TECH TIP OF THE MONTH

Brought to you by Alandale Training a great resource online for tips and on-site computer training courses in Vancouver, BC. Visit their site at www.alandaletraining.com.

The favorite tip of the month for ITS was this one:

When you are creating a bulleted (or numbered) list in Word and you press Enter, Word automatically gives you a new line with another bullet (or number).  But what do you do if you do not want the new line to have a bullet?

For instance, you want your bulleted list to look like this:
– First item
– Second item

– Third item
– Fourth item

The answer is to use Shift+Enter.

In the example above, when you have keyed in Second item, press Shift+Enter.  Word gives you a blank line without a bullet.  Then press Enter; a bullet appears and you key in Third item.  This is also useful if you want an item in the bulleted (or numbered) list to have several paragraphs.  Keep using Shift+Enter to give you a new line, until you are ready for the next bullet and then press Enter.
