This Month in IT History

In November of 1984, at the ripe age of 19 Michael Dell had a vision about how technology should be designed, he founded PC’s Limited with $1000 and an idea. By 1985,  the Turbo PC was developed, featuring an Intel 8088 processor running at 9MHz, a 10MB hard drive and a 5.25″ floppy drive. In order to stand out in the market the company gave customers risk-free returns and next-day, at-home product assistance, the company was among the first in the industry for that kind of service. In 1988 Dell completes its initial public offering, raising $30 million and increasing market capitalization from $1000 to $85 million after only 4 years. Today, Dell is an American multinational information technology corporation, listed at number 41 in the Fortune 500 list.

Server UPS

Server UPS is an important element to your IT infrastructure, if there is a power outage the UPS allows for your server to properly shutdown.  If your UPS is over three years the warranty will be expired and the battery will need replacing soon.  It becomes more cost effective to buy a new UPS under warranty.  This UPS is a great deal right now, and it is always a good time to be proactive with your IT infrastructure.

Price: $545.00

Keep your heading and text together:

In order to keep your headings and text together in order to avoid separation when a new page starts or blank lines when editing use the feature Keep With Next.

To turn on Keep With Next:

1. Right-click on the heading and select paragraph

2. In the Paragraph dialog box, select the second tab, Line and Page Breaks

3. Select the Keep With Next check box

4. Click OK

Note that if you press Enter twice to leave a blank line after the heading, Word looks at that as the next paragraph.  You will need to select the heading and the blank line before turning on Keep with Next.
